I've only gone and done it...

Yup, after months of prevarication I've done it.

Done whay? you ask... Signed up to take part in a charity trek across the Sahara desert next March, that's what.

The next question is why, though people who know me will probably be thinking, "That's it, he's dead...", but to answer the why: to raise much needed money for the Foundation for the study of Infant Deaths. I'll explain why in more detail in a later post.

The trek starts on 6th March 2009 when we fly from Heathrow to somewhere in Morocco. Then it's one night in a hotel before taking to the sands. My walking experience is limited - a 95 mile sponsored walk in April was about as far as I have gone. It chucked it down with rain throughout that trip, I'm hoping for better weather this time.

So now it's time to start training - a bulky 115kgs needs some serious trimming down if I am going to survive. Fear not, though, I have some very clever people who are going to help me - and no liposuction involved!

Watch this space for more details.

Cheers

Bob
